Many of our adoptive families have opened their hearts by sponsoring a child from Cayo Quemado. A minimum donation of $250 helps this child for a year. If you would like to open your heart and sponsor a child, please email me. December 27, 2009 It is a pleasure for the village of Cayo Quemado to cordially greet you, wishing you many blessings is our greatest desire. We say thank-you for the economical help you have sent for the purposes of education, it has been a blessing for our young people, as you know our community is lacking many basic resources, without this help it would have been impossible for the basico education to reach our village and our community. We hope the New Year will bring you many very pleasant surprises. With due respect. September 2008 June 2008 October 2005 The numbers rose daily of those who were killed and missing due to this devastating hurricane that ripped through Guatemala and other Central American countries. Most of the damage was on the coastline from the southern coast and western highlands. Roads were washed out, families separated, homes gone... absolutely devastating. One of our attorneys' asked our agency to please send down medicines, water and supplies for the poor people who lost everything. We sent our attorney a large monetary donation for her to purchase what she felt was best needed for the victims of this horrific hurricane as our hearts were shattered due to all this devastation. Our agency believes in giving back to the country who gives us our most precious gifts - our beautiful children. The photo to the left is what our attorney purchased to distribute among the poor people in Guatemala.(she filled up two trucks). Some of the items purchased were medicines, mattresses, diapers, toilet tissue, blankets, baby clothing, formula, water, etc. We continuously send down monetary donations to help those who need it most. Karing Angels International Adoptions, Inc. receives no governmental, private or public agency funding. We depend solely on the contributions of those who are interested in and supportive of our services, as well as our efforts to enhance and protect the children all over the world. July 18, 2007 The ideal place would be where there were children who would never have the opportunity of being adopted and having a family. Karing Angels wanted to give back to the country that gives us our precious children to place with forever families. One of our attorney’s daughter, took us to Hospice San Jose located in Sacatepequez, Guatemala – between Guatemala City and Antigua. This is a home that has children from 3 months old up to 14, all of whom have HIV/AIDS. There are approximately 60 children now and the capacity is 100. We were taken to the pharmacy and shown the “cocktails” the children are given by syringe, orally. Asked if the medication tasted good and was told the taste is horrid, but they try to camouflage it by adding in honey or chocolate. The children are given the medication twice a day and the cost for the medication is approximately $1,000 per month, per child. As long as they take their medication, they have a better chance at living a longer life. The facility was very clean and we were quite impressed by the staff, the place, and the children. No one knew we were coming. We were shown the rooms where the children sleep – 6 children to a room and each room has their own private bathroom. Children are assigned to their rooms according to age and gender. They do not have boys and girls together in the rooms. For the babies, there are 5 cribs to a room. The furnishings were beautiful and each room tastefully decorated. The children are educated and even given home work. We were shown the classroom, the desks, the computers, and awards children have received. The children were all clean and nicely dressed, hair well groomed. We decided to make this the charity that our agency would donate to yearly and made a policy that 3% of the agency fee from each AP, would be donated to this wonderful organization. We will also raise money through our yearly event when we do fund raising. While at Hospice San Jose, Karing Angels gave a donation of $2,000 which seemed to have shocked the Director. Not only did we donate, but my 10 year old daughter handed the Director a Guatemalan pocketbook filled with coins, dollar bills and Guatemalan currency as a donation for the children. The Director was very moved by her generosity. We also donated some Build-a-Bears that children made in the USA on May 19th to celebrate adoption. My older daughter took many photographs of Hospice San Jose and the many children. One little girl ran up to me, holding on tightly and hugging me……pulled at my heart strings. Leaving Hospice San Jose fulfilled an empty spot in our hearts, knowing that Karing Angels will be helping these children. |
